but i have questions.
q: i want to shoot with you, but i donāt have an idea.
a: thatās okay!
if you want to concoct something funky and creative, i can help with that.
but if you want something straightforward, no problemā i love a timeless portrait.
between the great outdoors and the great indoors (studio), we can get amazing photos youāll cherish forever, even if you donāt have anything specific in mind.
q: how much does a shoot cost?
a: it depends!
after initial discussions of the project, if i feel my work is a good fit, you (the client) will be presented with a couple of options for pricing based on what youād like to receive in the final gallery. (see booking page)
if you had something else in mind, feel free to reach out to me directly and we can talk about it.
if you have a budget in mind initially, feel free to bring it into discussion. if nothing else, itāll be a good place to start price discussion.
q: why do you shoot film? do you also shoot digital?
a: great question!
to make a very long answer relatively short, the product that film yields is magical. each āfilm stock,ā or the film with which i choose to shoot, has a visual style which adds character to a photo straight from the camera. this means less editing on the backend, and a stunning result.
to me, film photos are nostalgic, warm, and slightly unpredictable as you donāt see the image until after development. this adds to the thrill of shooting. i much prefer the workflow of shooting with film.
that being said, film has its limitations. in dark or fast-paced settings, sometimes film cannot keep up with demands. when something needs to be shot quickly, or there are limitations within the space such as low lighting, digital is the way to go.
sometimes, digital is the best way to go for a shoot based on turnaround, desired result, etc.
q: i want to work with you, but the price you quoted me was too high.
a: if you decide itās not a good fit, no hard feelings! maybe weāll meet again in the future. however, if you have a different number in mind, feel free to bring it into the conversationā adjusting your āfinal galleryā is always an option and can sometimes work into an already-set budget.
q: iāve never posed for pictures before but i want to shoot with you. help?
a: thatās okay!
i like to frame photoshoots as simply capturing a moment in time. it helps take off some of the pressure, knowing that you can show up as you are and it will be great.
if itās your first time posing for photos, i recommend finding some poses to practice in the mirror or use as inspiration once the day of your shoot comes.
sometimes deciding on a ācharacterā or āsceneā to portray can help emotions and movement come naturally as well. iām also there to direct and pose you, so you wonāt be alone or expected to be perfect on the first try! just like with anything else, in modeling you can practice and get better with time.
q: i love your style! will you shoot my wedding?
a: thank you so much!
the answer is no.
while i have shot (very) low-key weddings as favors for friends before, it is not something i advertise because itās not my calling.
there are wedding photographers out there who will pour their heart and soul into making you feel your best on your special day!
for me, the joy in photography is between my camera and my lovely subjectā with weddings, thereās a lot in between those two things.
iāll never say never, but the same thing goes for major events and the like.
