but i have questions.

q: i want to shoot with you, but i don’t have an idea.

a: that’s okay!

if you want to concoct something funky and creative, i can help with that.

but if you want something straightforward, no problem— i love a timeless portrait.

between the great outdoors and the great indoors (studio), we can get amazing photos you’ll cherish forever, even if you don’t have anything specific in mind.

q: how much does a shoot cost?

a: it depends!

after initial discussions of the project, if i feel my work is a good fit, you (the client) will be presented with a couple of options for pricing based on what you’d like to receive in the final gallery. (see booking page)

if you had something else in mind, feel free to reach out to me directly and we can talk about it.

if you have a budget in mind initially, feel free to bring it into discussion. if nothing else, it’ll be a good place to start price discussion.

q: why do you shoot film? do you also shoot digital?

a: great question!

to make a very long answer relatively short, the product that film yields is magical. each ā€œfilm stock,ā€ or the film with which i choose to shoot, has a visual style which adds character to a photo straight from the camera. this means less editing on the backend, and a stunning result.

to me, film photos are nostalgic, warm, and slightly unpredictable as you don’t see the image until after development. this adds to the thrill of shooting. i much prefer the workflow of shooting with film.

that being said, film has its limitations. in dark or fast-paced settings, sometimes film cannot keep up with demands. when something needs to be shot quickly, or there are limitations within the space such as low lighting, digital is the way to go.

sometimes, digital is the best way to go for a shoot based on turnaround, desired result, etc.

q: i want to work with you, but the price you quoted me was too high.

a: if you decide it’s not a good fit, no hard feelings! maybe we’ll meet again in the future. however, if you have a different number in mind, feel free to bring it into the conversation— adjusting your ā€˜final gallery’ is always an option and can sometimes work into an already-set budget.

q: i’ve never posed for pictures before but i want to shoot with you. help?

a: that’s okay!

i like to frame photoshoots as simply capturing a moment in time. it helps take off some of the pressure, knowing that you can show up as you are and it will be great.

if it’s your first time posing for photos, i recommend finding some poses to practice in the mirror or use as inspiration once the day of your shoot comes.

sometimes deciding on a ā€˜character’ or ā€˜scene’ to portray can help emotions and movement come naturally as well. i’m also there to direct and pose you, so you won’t be alone or expected to be perfect on the first try! just like with anything else, in modeling you can practice and get better with time.

q: i love your style! will you shoot my wedding?

a: thank you so much!

the answer is no.

while i have shot (very) low-key weddings as favors for friends before, it is not something i advertise because it’s not my calling.

there are wedding photographers out there who will pour their heart and soul into making you feel your best on your special day!

for me, the joy in photography is between my camera and my lovely subject— with weddings, there’s a lot in between those two things.

i’ll never say never, but the same thing goes for major events and the like.
